The Savvy Dog is owned by Carla Brown, CPDT-KA. Carla has been training dogs professionally for 10 years. She is committed to upholding the high standards of her profession and continually pursues advanced education opportunities in this growing field. The science of dog behavior is exciting and ever-changing! She especially loves to work with challenging behavior cases and collaborates with local veterinarians. Carla has a passion for teaching and loves to work with all members of a family to help each one develop their own special bond with the canine family members.
Carla is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer by the Council for Certification of Professional Dog Trainers. She is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a long-time volunteer for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. She writes The Savvy Trainer column in the Sierra Sun.
Rachel A. Frank CPDT-KA has been working for the Savvy Dog since 2013. She believes that dog training should be an enjoyable experience that strengthens the bond between you and your dog. Rachel loves teaching classes and prides herself on her creative problem solving skills and enthusiasm.
Besides caring for her own dogs since she was very young, Rachel has been volunteering for animal shelters since she was 8 years old and has worked at Humane Societies in Montana and California. Through her shelter work she has gained a great deal of experience working with a wide variety of dogs and people in many different situations.
Rachel is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the Pet Professionals Guild and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer by the Council for Certification of Professional Dog Trainers.
